When was the last time you used the Calculator on your computer? Well, if you haven’t done so in the recent past – eCalc gives you several reasons to do so. eCalc is an online tool for performing a plethora of calculations with amazing ease. To top it all it has loads of impressive features which make it a must-check-it-out tool.
eCalc is available in two modes:
- Basic Mode: Basic mode resembles a simple calculator and allows basic arithmetic operations(including under-root, square-root and inverse)
- Scientific Mode: The Scientific mode resembles the scientific calculator and has loads of other features like
- Unit conversion tool which is very simple to use with 11 categories to convert from
- Support for complex numbers
- Scientific functions
- Algebraic/RPN mode
- Linear (up to 5×5 variables) and Quadratic (up to Hexic equations) equation solver
- List of popular constants with values and units
Key features of eCalc:
1. No registration or joining process
2. It is 100% FREE – and unlike other free tools, their interface is not cluttered with ads
3. Both the basic and scientific calculator have an excellent, simplistic interface which is very pleasant to look at
4. The website also has a review section which reviews latest models of all forms of calculators
5. eCalc also distributes the following from their website for FREE:
- OS X dashboard version of the basic online calculator, with a link to the scientific calculator
- a Windows Vista Sidebar calculator
- Calculator gadget for iGoogle
- Basic Calculator for Windows again with a link to the online scientific calculator for those who need advanced features
- A Portable(standalone executable) version of the basic calculator for Flash Drives
eCalc claims(with a hint of vanity) to be the ‘best online calculator’. While we debate that claim, one thing is for sure, that the eCalc website is immensely useful. The only problem I faced while using it was navigation. In their attempt to keep the website simple, they forgot to add back and home links. And after much hit-and-trial I found that on clicking on a part of the border image, you can navigate to the home page.
Note: The page of the scientific calculator scrolls below to reveal an explanation of the functions. Do check it out. Also, watch the demo video to familiarize yourself with the operation of the calculator.
All in all, eCalc is definitely one of the ‘better’ online calculators and is worth your attention. Check it out here.
