You no longer need to visit slow-loading and cumbersome dictionary websites. Now get dictionary definitions in your email. Just follow these easy tips to get definitions in email.

How to get dictionary definitions in email?

Mail to: wsmith@wordsmith.org

Subject: define yourword (eg: define utopia)

No need to write anything in mail body

Here is what happened when we tried the above example:

And this was the reply:

This service is amazingly fast – really! It is one of the best options for people(like me) who work a lot with their email inbox always open. Moreover this service suggests similar words if the word you requested wasn’t found. This is very handy in case of typing errors or spelling errors.

All in all, a trick worth trying. Try it now and enjoy the service!

Twitter is exciting and now is the time to add more spice to your twitter experience. People who cannot survive without Twitter and spend a major part of their day letting others know what they are doing, can now post to Twitter using email. TwitterMail is a service which lets you post to Twitter from your email.

What can TwitterMail do?

TwitterMail provides you a unique email address. When you write a mail to this address, the body of the mail is posted to Twitter

All replies by your friends(beginning with @username) are mailed to your email address – this can be disabled in settings to prevent mailbox clogging

When you send a message with ‘Friends’ as the subject, you’ll receive one message with the last 20 posts from all of your friends

URLs are automatically shortened using TinyURL

TwitterMail removes the limitation of 140 character limit by adding a ‘Read More’ link to display complete message

If you add time to your email subject line, you can also schedule your tweets

TwitterMail thus simplifies your Twittering experience. By scheduling tweets, you can also create an impression of being online when you are not. TwitterMail enhances your productivity and saves a lot of your precious time and is well worth trying out!

Ever wondered what it would be like to get a letter from your 20s something self, when you are say, 60 years old? What would it feel like to talk from yourself from the past – the conversation between what you wanted to be and what you have become – How would it feel to talk to the Future You? Try Future Me to know the answer.

With FutureMe.org, you can:

write emails to yourself, that will be delivered to you at a later date

write emails to others, that will be delivered to them at a later date(displaying your address from where it was sent to prevent abuse)

write public(but anonymous) letters, which will be displayed by FutureMe.org(read the disclaimer for more)

read public emails written by others to have an insight to the varied thoughts of the human mind

In 2006, the FutureMe compiled over 200 public(but anonymous) entries on FutureMe.org into a book titled – Dear FutureMe- Hopes, Fears, Secrets, Resolutions, which makes for an interesting read and is acknowledged by authors and psychologists as a unique social dialogue.

People behind FutureMe have a very funny bone, and the website reflects their simplicity and sincere humour. They run a PayPal account so that you can donate them some money, and the creator’s have also put up their wishlist in case you’d rather gift presents. So if you have been thinking of writing yourself(or someone else) a post dated letter (say a letter to your ex-girlfriend saying you-would-have-been -happier-with-me, or a letter to yourself reminding what you had planned to do on your 50th birthday – try FutureMe now.

Note:

Go through the What! section(yeah, that is what they call the FAQs) to learn about frequent mail delivery issues and guidelines.

So its Friday night and you’ve been drinking a tad bit more to ward off the memories of a bad week. As you become tipsy you are tempted to let loose your wrath on your boss by writing a fiery email. These situations can have serious repercussions that may lead to people losing their jobs, losing their wives, lovers and friends and in worse cases, landing up in jail for abuse.

To prevent such mails which you’ll regret sending in the morning, Gmail Labs have come up with an ingenious solution – the Gmail Mail Goggles. To enable the Mail Goggles navigate to Settings>Labs in the Gmail window, browse to Mail Goggles and click Enable. You can also send feedback related to this gadget here.

How does Mail Goggles work?

The name ‘Mail Goggles’ is derived from the slang “Beer Goggles,” which states the effect of alcohol on one’s ability to see the true nature of a few seemingly beautiful ladies. It is said that Gmail engineer Jon Perlow designed Goggles with his own weaknesses in mind. “Sometimes I send messages I shouldn’t send. Like the time I told that girl I had a crush on her over text message. Or the time I sent that late night e-mail to my ex-girlfriend that we should get back together,” he wrote when announcing Mail Goggles on a company blog.

Mail Goggles let you set a time and days(usually weekends, but if you are a way-too-regular visitor to the bar you can choose to activate it on all days) and a difficulty level. The Mail Goggles settings are a part of the General Settings.

So if your write any mails on the specified day after the stipulated time(usually nights) then a Mail Goggle comes into action and prompts you to solve some simple mathematics problems in a limited time. It assumes that if you are in a state where you can logically think and perform some easy calculations, then you deserve to send an email. Otherwise you don’t – and that is where it steps in.

So if you can’t add 23 and 13, its not that nice an idea to write an email. If you give wrong answers Google says some nice, comforting words like – “Water and bed for you. Or try again.”

Sometimes it pays to get help, even if it is from a machine. This is like those tests for drunken driving the only difference being these are not to determine punishments, but to save you from some. Don’t let alcohol ruin something which took a lifetime to build up – use Mail Goggles!
