The Gmail chat window already sports many features like auto-shaping emoticons and so on. This feature eliminates the need to open YouTube and Google videos in new windows so you can watch them then and there.

Google Sandbox is one of the most debated and talked about topic on the internet. While most people deny Sandbox’s existence, we can safely assume that some such filter exists at Google. Under this assumption let us understand what is the Sandbox.

What is the Google Sandbox?

The Google Sandbox is a filter used to filter new blogs or websites by Google. This filter maintains the purity of search engine rankings by preventing any new website or blog from rising very quickly in the search rankings. It does so to prevent false websites from making it to the top of search engine rankings and to prevent spam.

The Sandbox maintains that new sites must not manage a large number of backlinks without spending considerable time on the internet

It is a kind of probationary period for websites during which the search ranking and traffic would be quite low despite unique daily content and a large number of backlinks

It is meant to maintain the quality and authenticity of Google’s search rankings

You know your website is in the Sandbox when:

Your search engine traffic drops considerably in only a few days

Your website’s Google indexing rate has dropped

How to come out from the Sandbox?

Your blog will not stay in the Sandbox forever so keep writing good quality posts and ignore the low traffic for a while

Content is king so keep up the unique content

Remember that Google Sandbox’s probationary period lasts from one month to six months, the average bein three months

Don’t over do SEO in the beginning, it doesn’t go down well with Google

Sandbox is specially harder on sites which target popular and competitive keywords like ‘Make Money Online’

Do not try spamming to get traffic – this will definitely lead to the Sandbox

Check for too many inbound, unrelated links

Remember Content is king! Just keep writing good stuff and one day you’ll emerge victorious out of the sandbox

So don’t let the Sandbox push your website to oblivion, rather keep working through the hard times so that as soon as you are out of the Sandbox you climb instantly to the top of the Search engine ladder. Best wishes!

SEO is the buzzword today and if you have been linking left and right, accepting inbounds links to your site and linking to other websites to increase your rankings, halt! Google stresses upon the fact that though linking is important but links from bad neighbourhoods can cause a dent in your rankings rather than boosting them.

There is nothing as frustrating than getting lower ranks just because the site you linked to or got linked from, is flagged for malicious spyware or suspicious activity. So the sooner you diagnose your links for malware, the safer you are. Here is how to do it for free – the Google way!

Google Safe Browsing Diagnostic Tool:

Google provides you a quick, easy and free method to check a domain’s recent history for infections and suspicious activity. This becomes essential to check and verify all your link drops and exchanges and all outgoing links from within your content.

Type this simple query in your browser’s address bar:

http://google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=the-site-you-want-to-check.com

Replace the text after the ‘=’ with the name of the site under your investigation.

For example, if we want to check Google’s history for attempts to serve malware, the link becomes:

http://google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=google.com – This will generate the following report

You’ll notice that although they try really hard, even the most popular websites are not safe from malware attacks. You can imagine what such a threat can do to your website’s reputation. The results of this diagnostic might not be very comprehensive as of now, but it is pretty handy in verifying the safety of all links.

It is also advisable to check your own website once in a while just to be assured about your health. Make this tool a part of your webmaster tool box and stay safe. Best Wishes!

Saved Passwords feature in Google Chrome is a respite for all those people out there(including me) who keep forgetting their passwords and lose their accounts. It also saves some precious time wasted away in mindless typing again and again.

However when you are working on some other computer, one which is not aware of your saved password, then you have to exert your grey cells and remember it. In case you have forgotten what your saved password was, never fear, Google Chrome is here!

Chrome, like all nice browsers, saves your passwords for future reference. Here is how to access those saved passwords:

How to access saved passwords in Chrome?

Open Google Chrome and click on the Customize and Control Chrome Icon on right most corner of the address bar(the one with the spanner). In the menu that opens, click on Options

In the Chrome options, click on the Minor Tweaks tab and click on the Saved Passwords tab

The Passwords window opens which shows a list of websites and your usernames on those websites

Navigate to the username for which you want to discover the saved password and select it

Click on the Show Password tab and lo! Your password is revealed

Here you can also remove some or all passwords

Happy browsing!

Google Chrome has loads of features some of which are an absolute delight for Webmasters. One such feature is the Google Chrome Inspector. To inspect, edit and debug the HTML, CSS or Javascript in a webpage in Google Chrome, right-click on the page and click on Inspect Element in the context menu that follows:

The Chrome Inspector opens up in a new window.

Features of Chrome Inspector:

1. Elements: In the Inspector elements tab, you can find HTML, CSS and Javascript elements buried deep in a page. You can edit these values here and notice the change in the background. You can also use the console to run commands. It also offers a complete detail about:

Styles

Metrics

Element Properties

2. Resources: The resources tab tells you about the resource consumption of each element on the page in terms of size and time. So now you can know which element is pulling down the loading speed.

Google, by incorporating the Inspector, thus stays faithful towards Webmasters and developers and helps immensely in the task of developing efficient and high performance websites. Who knows, the Inspector might just fine Chrome a few converts from the beloved Firefox!
